Top Budget-Friendly Destinations to Explore

Travel By Supreet Kaur

Travel has always been on our priority list for most of us, but the concern that comes along with it is the budget. All of us want to go to places that feel like heaven—a once-in-a-lifetime experience—but that usually requires a lot of money. But what if I tell you there are so many places around the globe, especially in India, that have so much to offer but are still somewhere unexplored? And because they are unexplored, they are also very budget-friendly.

Here we are going to talk about some of the places in India that very few people know about but are worth visiting.

1. Kalga

This may contain: the mountains are covered in snow and green trees, with small buildings on each side

There is a small offbeat village in Parvati Valley called Kalga, known for its apple orchards and scenic views. If you are thinking of going for a trek to Kheerganga, this can also be a base camp for it. This village is best for introspection, writing, or meditation because of the calmness and peace it offers.

2. Varkala

If you want to see the raw, unfiltered beauty of India, then this is the right place to go. Varkala Beach is situated in the small town of Varkala in Kerala. It gives off a summer-day vibe that feels both refreshing and affordable. Best for solo travel.

3.Gokarna

If you are somebody who is religious and likes to explore places that have deep meaning, and are also tired of going to the same places again and again, then Gokarna is a very suitable option for you. Located in Karnataka, it is known for its temples and a bohemian vibe that is popular among travellers.

4.Majuli

This may contain: a small boat sitting on top of a lake next to a lush green field and forest

Located in the Northeast, it is one of the largest river islands of Assam. The sunset points and monasteries are definitely places you should visit there. This place has a very calm and subtle vibe to offer.

5. Mandawa

This contains: The compact and busy little market town of Mandawa was settled and fortified in 18th century by the dominant merchant families of the region. The wealthy businessmen of the village constructed many havelis and baolis with colored painting adorning their walls.

If you have a love for art and history, then Mandawa is the right choice. Located in Rajasthan, Mandawa is a small town full of old mansions and painted havelis. It is famous for its open-air art gallery and Mandawa Fort.

6. Tawang

If you want to go far away from the noises of the world, then Tawang is the place. A town in Arunachal Pradesh, it does not feel like a trip—it is a surreal experience where you can feel the mountains, the spiritual chanting, and the prayer flags fluttering. Sela Pass, Madhuri Lake, Bum La Pass, and Tawang Monastery are the places you must visit there.

7.Unakoti

This may contain: there is a face carved into the side of a rock formation with people sitting under an umbrella

Unakoti is one of those places that will make you stop and wonder—a massive carved stone of Lord Shiva hidden in the dense forests of Tripura. The site features Unakotiswara Kal Bhairava, Durga, and numerous Shivalingas. It is the perfect destination for travelers who are religious and spiritually inclined.

Conclusion

The world has so much to offer; it’s on us when and where we choose to open our eyes and see the view, and with what perspective. In this piece, I tried covering places of different genres—from spiritual to beaches to mountains to artistic locations. Now it’s on you to decide from what lens you would like to explore these places more. Mindful travelling is a very important aspect of travelling in order to learn and grow.
